Neneh Cherry has announced a new album. Broken Politics, produced entirely by Four Tet, arrives October 19 via Smalltown Supersound/Awal Recordings. She’s shared a new song, “Shot Gun Shack.” Check that out, plus the LP’s tracklist and Wolfgang Tillmans-created cover art, below

Cherry heard the phrase “Shot Gun Shack” while at the funeral of late jazz musician Ornette Coleman, she says in a press release. “I don’t even remember who said it, but I was like, ‘Shotgun shack! That’s a cool term.’ It’s about gun culture—the notion of war zones and the tragedies that guns bring there.” The new track follows her recently released single “Kong,” which was co-produced by Four Tet and Massive Attack’s 3D. Kieran Hebden also produced Cherry’s last album, 2014’s Blank Project.
